Network interface problem?
I'm trying to set up a new computer--since my old one died--with my old computer's USB wireless adapter and Gateway. The newer computer is an HP Pavilion with Windows XP.
The adapter is called a 3COM OfficeConnect USB wireless 11g adapter. After connecting it and its installation disk, a setup window appears. I click "Run Discovery application" and it tells me to select the network interface my product is connected to. The only one to choose from is something along the lines of "Realtek... Family Fast Ethernet NIC." I'm unable to click Next--at the bottom it says, "The selected network interface does not have a valid IP address or there is no link present."
Any help at all is really appreciated. Thank you.
Sounds like the drivers are not getting loaded. When you go to Control Panel, Network Connections do it listed there? If not you must load the driver. The link below is probably the driver for your adapter. double check because they had more than one model of the usb wireless g adapters
