Without education there can be no development: Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi is on two days visit to Amethi since Friday. He is visiting Amethi, his parliamentary constituency to express his condolence to families of those 14 persons killed in road accident at Saresar village on 11th April 2011 . As many as 30 other persons were injured in that accident. AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi also visited the houses of those injured and wished them early recovery. The injured being from different villages the Young Leader took upon himself to visit some of them yesterday evening while the remaining areas were covered by him today morning.
Being ardent advocate of education, Congress leader visited Indira Gandhi Training Institute at Jagdishpur. While holding interactive session with the students of that institute Rahul Gandhi said without education there can be no development. "It is important to raise the level of education in Amethi", he said while addressing the students. "Setting up of institutes of higher learning like IIT will transform the place into an education hub", he further added. Underlying message of the Congress leader is that by establishing institutes of higher learning here pace of development and economic level of the local people will get a definite boost because education and economic development always go together.
Rahul Gandhi has also been working towards empowerment of women. Today he visited women self-help groups in Amethi to review their working and to share the views of such women groups as to what more could be done in this area.
It may be mentioned here that the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust is already running a number of poverty alleviation programmes in the area. The flagship programme of this trust is Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojna (RGMVP) which commemorates and takes forward the vision of Rajiv Gandhi for the country. It was set up by Gandhi family to address areas of concern that were closest to Rajiv Gandhi's heart. It aims to translate Rajiv Gandhi's vision into action by implementing development programmes that have sustainable impact on these areas of concern. The Trust aims at improving governance and providing enlarged opportunities to the underprivileged and the deprived.
RGMVP works in the poorest areas of Uttar Pradesh, one of the least developed states in India. This programme reaches out the poorest and deprived areas of UP to bring the poor hope for a better future, a sense of self worth and the means of freedom from socio-economic oppression. Empowerment of the poor, struggling to survive against adverse economic and social conditions, while achieving poverty mitigation
Under RGMVP's development initiatives poor women are formed into microfinance-linked Self Help Groups that promote thrift and livelihood enhancement as a means to become self-reliant. The tools in the successful execution of the programme are institution and capacity building, skills training, advocacy and networking
The impact of the programme has been tremendous. It has grown exponentially and now covers over 3 lacs families in 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Today, RGMVP is the most successful and the fastest growing social mobilisation programme in UP.
Livelihood enhancement through activities such as dairy farming, livestock rearing, non-farm sector and other small entrepreneurial activities has ensured that lakhs of families have sustainable means of earning and have improved their economic condition. Training in income generation activities has contributed substantially to equipping poor women with skills to earn livelihoods. Sustainable agricultural practices are ensuring that the poor are able to rejuvenate their small land holdings and make a living from tilling their lands. Mobilisation and motivation of women on issues of health, education, gender and social problems has brought about a revolution in the perceptions of the women and they are now involved in community driven action centred on these issues.
This programme being linked to Micro Credit Plan (MCP) has set a process by which poorest families are gradually coming out of poverty the credit for which goes to Gandhi family which is ceaselessly working for improving the conditions of the people of Amethi.

Major Help Needed about micro hubs?
1--I have a Cisco Micro Hub 1528. can I get this to get me freee internet access. I only have one computer at home and i have a intergrated lan. it says "Little or no connectivity" and i tried reparing. What do I need now to get me free internet.
2--If u live in NYC, how can I get internet like NYCBOE.
3--Also, can I get internet like laptops do, u know all free and stuff.
i don't have internet yet on this comp so what do i need to do to get internet for free (u know like laptops or psps they can get free internet if there aint no security on tha people routers
1. Thas a 8 port hub. Go for about $5 on e-bay. Oldie but goodie. Lets 8 PC's talk togather. Or 7 if ya already got a router & internet access.
2. & 3. Ya need a laptop that has wireless internet capability, an be near enuf to a wireless signal to pick it up (usually within 50 feet). Maybe a coffeehouse or motel. (or a neighbor that aint set up no security). GL.
